The ABAT 40-Hour Training Program is directed by a BCBA or Licensed Behavior Analyst who maintains full responsibility for:

Instructor Qualifications
All instruction is delivered under qualified clinical supervision.
Lead Instructor Requirements:
• Master’s degree or higher in ABA or related field
• Active BCBA certification or appropriate licensure
• Minimum two (2) years applied ABA experience
Assistant Instructors:
• May support instruction under documented BCBA supervision
• May not independently approve course completion or certification documentation
Fieldwork Supervisors:
• Must be BCBAs or Licensed Behavior Analysts
• Verify completion of 15 supervised fieldwork hours
• Provide formal recommendation for credential eligibility
Instructor-to-Student Ratios
To maintain instructional integrity and individualized support, the following ratios are observed:
• Lecture Delivery – Maximum 1:30
• Skills Practice – Maximum 1:15
• Competency Evaluation – 1:1 preferred (maximum 1:3)
• Remediation Sessions – Maximum 1:5
These ratios ensure quality instruction, ethical supervision, and competency-based evaluation.
Course Structure & Evaluation
The ABAT 40-Hour Training Program includes:
• Module knowledge checks
• Comprehensive final examination
• Ethics case assessments
• Competency-based evaluations (if applicable)
• Participation verification
Grading & Passing Requirements
To successfully complete the program, students must:
• Achieve a minimum cumulative score of 80%
• Earn at least 80% on the final examination
• Complete 100% of instructional hours
• Demonstrate required competency standards
One retake is permitted within 14 calendar days following structured remediation. Failure of the retake requires re-enrollment.

Module Quizzes – 30%
Final Examination – 40%
Ethics & Case Assessments – 20%
Participation / Completion Verification – 10%
Late submissions may receive up to a 10% deduction.
Academic integrity violations, including plagiarism or unauthorized collaboration, may result in course failure or dismissal.
Formal Appeals Process
Breaking Barriers maintains a structured, transparent appeals process:
Step 1 – Informal Resolution
Students must contact the instructor in writing within five (5) business days of grade issuance. The instructor will respond within five (5) business days.
Step 2 – Formal Written Appeal
If unresolved, students must submit a written appeal within ten (10) business days including detailed explanation and supporting documentation.
Step 3 – Administrative Review
An impartial reviewer or Clinical Director will issue a final written decision within ten (10) business days.
Appeals may be considered for:
• Clerical errors
• Misapplication of grading rubrics
• Documented technical errors
• Procedural inconsistencies
Appeals will not be granted for disagreement with grading standards or academic misconduct findings.
Fieldwork Requirement
QABA requires 15 supervised fieldwork hours for ABAT eligibility.
Fieldwork must be:
• Supervised by a BCBA or Licensed Behavior Analyst
• Properly documented
• Formally verified for credential eligibility
Breaking Barriers provides guidance regarding fieldwork requirements; however, supervision arrangements may vary depending on placement and availability.

Estimated ABAT Certification Pathway Costs:
• 40-Hour ABAT Training – $108
• Criminal Background Check – $55 (estimated)
• QABA ABAT Application & Exam – $125
• Supervised Fieldwork (15 hours) – $0 (unpaid supervision arrangement)

Note: Costs do not include renewal fees, continuing education units (CEUs), exam retake fees, or optional supervision services.

Breaking Barriers Behavioral Services retains:
• Instructor credentials
• Attendance records
• Assessment scores
• Fieldwork verification
• Appeal documentation
All documentation is maintained for a minimum of five (5) years in compliance with QABA ABAT eligibility standards.
Students may request official documentation of grades in writing.

Annual curriculum and quality assurance reviews are conducted by the Program Director to ensure ongoing compliance and professional integrity.
